Music Makers are very pleased to welcome back to the Tea à Tempo stage longtime Salt Spring Island resident, musician and filmmaker Peter Prince on November 06.
The versatile, intrepid Canadian music and video artist, Peter Prince, is based on Salt Spring Island. During a career that spans four decades, he has taken his musician’s soul and filmmaker’s eye from the Haida Gwaii to the Himalayas, but his heart is rooted in the natural beauty and culture of the Salish Sea.
With his warm resonant voice, Peter delivers artfully wrought lyrics. His distinctive finger-picking acoustic guitar, expressive piano and bluesy harmonica create good vibes that move both body and soul. Renowned for the stories behind his songs, Prince crafts music that takes the listener on a journey. With insight and empathy, he brings to light relationships with remarkable people and a sense of wonder and reverence for nature.
On his new record, BORN TO FLY, Peter muses on themes of change and resilience. His acoustic guitar and piano explore compelling sonic territory while backed by outstanding guest artists. Over the album’s 13 tracks, he mines the depths of the heart — unveils vivid imagery and upbeat gratitude for life’s joys and sorrows. Like our feathered friends, his songs dance in a world without borders as they whisk us from Shangri-La to Tonga and beyond. Meaning and story emerge in the cross-cultural musical adventures, striking emotional chords that resonate deeply.
