Sarah grew up in Dallas, Texas. She studied and worked in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee (Blues! Country Music!) before moving west and spending 30 years in Southern California. Sarah has master's degrees in Social Work and Divinity. She worked as a psychiatric social worker in a variety of settings, and spent 4 months in a Carmelite monastery prior to her ordination as a Priest in the Episcopal Church in the US, 34 years ago. She served five congregations in the Diocese of Los Angeles and one in the Diocese of British Columbia, before fully retiring to the Anglican Parish here on Salt Spring Island.
Sarah and her husband, Chas Belknap, have been members of All Saints since 2009. She loves sitting in the pew with her fellow parishioners, and is glad to preside/preach when that's helpful.
Fun Fact:
Sarah's an avid birder, and confesses to having five bird apps on her phone.
