Baptism marks the outward and visible sign of beginning the Christian journey that God walks with us. We ackowledge and hold up the original blessings that God invokes upon all human beings. As and adult, in the baptismal service you commit yourself to following Jesus. When we baptize your child, you commit to raising them in Christian faith and practices. We usually offer baptisms on particular dates that come up on the Church Liturgical Calendar.
Confirmation is a public service of worship where a person reaffirms their baptismal vows. For those baptized as a baby this is an opportunity to take ownership of the promises made on your behalf by your parents and sponsors. During the service, the Bishop 'confirms' your commitment to follow Jesus and prays for the Holy Spirit to come upon you. We offer preparation for both youth and adults, often done with a group.
As one young woman said: ‘We spent so much time planning for our wedding, but very little time, if any, planning for married life.’
As you get ready to begin married life, we want to help you build a healthy marriage. To help you prepare, we recommend that you begin by meeting with parish clergy who will explin and plan a process of marriage preparation.
We are an inclusive and welcoming parish; the sacraments of the church are available to all people on equal terms. Christ welcomes you, and so do we. If you have questions/comments/concerns please don’t hesitate to be in touch.
We can help you during the difficult period following the death of a loved one. Our Anglican funeral/memorial service speaks words of comfort and hope, all based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In addition, there are four cemeteries owned and managed by the Anglican Parish of Salt Spring Island. More information on these can be found here.
